About Maria Seravalli
My passion for impactful storytelling through audio motivated me to earn an MA in Media Studies while serving as a programs manager for the NYC Mayor's Office. I am motivated to produce stories, whether through audiobooks, podcasting, or radio, that center empathy and encourage connection. Through the Media Studies program at the New School, I gained hands-on experience developing, producing, and editing innovative audio narratives. In practical workshops, I became proficient in recording and editing raw files using Pro Tools and Adobe Audition. My graduate studies also gave me strong research, writing, and presentation skills that I leverage when scripting, fact-checking, editing, and directing audio programs. As a programs manager for the NYC Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, I strategically prioritized responsibilities on tight deadlines, collaborated with high-profile partners, and coordinated logistics for citywide programming, including the country’s largest Summer Youth Employment Program. In that role, I also collected and utilized data metrics as well as curated social media campaigns to promote neighborhood initiatives. When the pandemic hit, I co-managed a pandemic referral system that received 17,000+ requests for support, resulting in thousands of food and PPE deliveries.My prior work experience includes justice-oriented case management and sports journalism, both of which contribute to my ability to manage workflows from conception to execution.
