About Maria Wilkins-Whitaker
I thrive at the intersection of ambitious doing and empathetic learning, where I believe I can do more good for people who need more good. The ambition and empathy inside of me lit up when I discovered immigration law during my freshman year of college; U.S. refugee law and policy in particular resonated with me. This career objective has been at the center of my academic and professional goals. As a political science and international development student at Brigham Young University, I took jobs that allowed me to practice ambition and empathy as well as gain valuable skills to become a successful attorney. My professional experience is in political research, writing, and teaching, as well as in legal data collection and law library record maintenance. I have assisted professors at Brigham Young University and J. Reuben Clark Law School in more than seven academic and legal research projects; coached more than twenty political science undergraduate students in producing concise, organized, and grammatically correct writing; and maintained thousands of legal publication records for the Howard W. Hunter Law Library. I also maintained a 3.97 GPA while accomplishing these objectives. My current professional objective is to continue to gain experience in the legal field so I can maximize my success in law school and beyond. I strive to bring an ambitious energy and a humble willingness to learn wherever I go. Let's talk!
