While employed by Duke, I am dually appointed with the Durham VA Medical Center. I work as a coordinator on multiple randomized clinical trials.

I served as a study coordinator on "Heroes Health Initiative: Supporting Healthcare Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic" UNC IRB Study #: 20-0823 under Dr. Samuel McLean, MD, MPH.Heroes Health is a smartphone app-based mental health support initiative for healthcare workers and first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic. By completing brief weekly surveys, app users are able to check in with themselves, keep track of their mental health, and connect immediately to helpful resources (crisis lines, meditation apps, special discounts, etc.). At partnering organizations, institutional leaders receive de-identified, aggregate reports of employee well-being and reports on things like PPE and departmental communication. My work has focused especially on developing and implementing our communications and outreach plans, setting up and aiding organizational mental health support teams, beta app testing and web development, and preparing resources for potential partners and donors.

As an undergraduate research assistant for the Better Tomorrow Network within UNC’s Institute for Trauma Recovery, I worked directly under Nicole A Short, PhD on a range of projects related to sexual assault (SA) trauma. I primarily focused on the development and creation of a feasibility study called the RISE Guide, an mHealth intervention designed to make cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety sensitivity accessible to women following SA in the interest of preventing the development of posttraumatic stress longer term. • Used Qualtrics to build, edit, pilot, and check complex survey designs (e.g., intervention materials, ecological momentary assessment and intervention, cognitive bias modification) and prepare these for data analysis• Identified potential grants and funding opportunities and assist in applications• Proofread scholarly publications and managed references using EndNote software• Collaborated with other research assistants to create a unified brand and aesthetic and design graphics for the intervention and study materials using Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Powerpoint.• Compiled a comprehensive and accessible list of local resources available to participants at each of our test sites• Completed and maintained weekly rounds updates

As an undergraduate library assistant I organized, re-shelved, checked-in, and processed new and returning books in addition to aiding library patrons in navigating the research process, helping them to access relevant research material as needed. I also collected data regarding patron engagement - specifically, how they utilize library staff - for University Library Systems research. My favorite parts of the job were helping out with our Instagram account by hunting down books with perfect covers for “Book Face Friday” and taking photos of our mascot lobster, Joey Crustacean Sloane.

The demo clerks serve to educate customers about various local, organic, or otherwise noteworthy co-op products and programs; create and prepare engaging recipes, spreads, and “spiels” for customers, volunteers, and employees; and facilitate vendor demos and presentations as a liaison of the cooperative each weekend. Engaging with customers and getting to know the regulars was my favorite part!

UNC School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology: Pain Management Center• Direct patient shadowing experience with Dr. Amy Goetzinger, PhD, pain psychologist, in psychological assessments and treatment of patients with chronic pain and comorbid mental health and/or substance abuse concerns. Assessments observed included suitability for chronic opioid management, intrathecal pump/spinal cord stimulator, and diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. Outpatient psychotherapy observed utilized cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness based strategies. • Specialized populations included complex medical comorbidities, major psychopathology, substance abuse, and chronic pain

• Direct patient interaction and experience with Nicole Baker, MA, Ed.S, LPA in psychoeducational assessments of children with suspected learning differences including but not limited to dyslexia, ADHD, and dysgraphia• Observed and scored a range of psychological instruments for both behavioral (ASBEA, ADDES, TRF) and cognitive (WISC-III, TONI, BEERY VMI, CTOPP-2, VADRS, etc) assessments; administered and scored the Woodcock-Johnson IV under supervision of Ms. Baker.• Developed friendly rapport with children and parents in order to provide a comfortable testing environment

Organized 8+ animal rights activism-related events ranging from 8-300+ attendees on campus for two consecutive semesters. Co-ordinated a team of other young animal rights activists through the on-campus organization "Vegans for Peace." Duties always included communicating with a non-vegan audience and varied from tabling with a variety of samples to coordinating with Campus Dining Services, advertising events on social media, planning documentary screenings, coordinating tours and volunteer days at local farm animal sanctuaries, and many more. Serving as the campus representative was an effort to educate the Carolina community about environmental ethics related to animal agriculture, animal rights and welfare issues on farms, in labs, and at homes across the state, and human rights violations in the food industry.

I worked as an in-store employee at Papa John's in South Asheville for my last two years of high school, returning to the position during my first summer break after heading off to college. This is where I first gained most of my customer service experience and food industry knowledge, moving up to the "Master" rank after around six months at the shop.As a "Master," I trained new employees on the FOCUS and PROFIT computer systems and supervised entry-level employees in addition to continuing my standard tasks of taking customer orders, checking out carryout customers, and resolving customer complaints when necessary.

In this position, I primarily observed gallery clusters to ensure the safety of the artwork and visitors. I acted as a liaison between the Ackland and the public, addressing the guests' questions, comments, or concerns. My favorite part of the job was interacting with local kids who attended our monthly "Art Adventures" program!

I was part of a team of seasonal canvassers working to collect petitions requesting Gov. McCrory’s administration move toxic coal ash that has contaminated North Carolina’s waterways to dry, lined storage facilities.
