In this role I was responsible for a caseload of families, signposting to appropriate services and working collaboratively with schools, housing, respite services and health to provide a beneficial outcome for the families. I was responsible for adapting and maintaining progress on an online confidential system with a plan, attending regular visits and meetings and holding families accountable for their lives but also advocating some to do so.

In this role I worked across two sites working with children and young people across the autistic spectrum as well as young people struggling with social, emotional and mental health. I worked closely with the speech and language therapist as well as the occupational therapist to recognise and action the targets for the children being implemented within their EHCP. I made use of resources across the sites that would support their targets and undertook further training to support my knowledge and gain more understanding.

I supported social workers and the service managers to ensure that service users documents are uploaded onto the organisations data base entry system. I also took great pride in taking minutes for core groups following on from child protection conferences (safeguarding and review team) which was interesting to see the linking services and how it worked.I also worked in the safeguarding and review team supporting independent chairs to arrange conferences which included ensuring paperwork were available. My main tasks included managing the inbox, sending our invites and records of the conferences minutes. In addition i was the first point of call for service users and professionals through telephone contact. This at times involved managing hostile and difficult service users and supporting them to resolve the concerns they have called in about.

In this post I was responsible for raising awareness in the general public of the potential to become foster careers and adopters. I did this by attending community events to promote understanding of this area, delivering flyers to schools to promote and managing the social media pages.

My role involved supporting young people with complex needs which included physical disability and developmental disability including ASD, ADHD and other diagnosis. At times this was 1 to 1 but this was dependent on the needs of the individual child. At the end of the day full records were made and I was responsible for updating parents of their child’s day.

This was a short term contract to support a young girl with ASD to access the pre-school provision. I worked 1 to 1 with her to ensure she was safe whilst promoting her interaction in the setting. I used a pot of my development and training from my action for children role to develop strategies to support her behaviour.
