The Government of Canada launched the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force (CITF) to track the spread of the virus in both the general population and priority populations in Canada. The Task Force also aims to shed light on immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 in a diversity of communities, age brackets, populations, and occupational groups across the nation. To generate this information, the Task Force is drawing on experts from universities and hospitals across Canada, working closely with provincial and territorial public health officials, and engaging communities/stakeholders from inception through to dissemination of findings.My tasks included: Knowledge translation, preparation of literature review, manuscripts, reports and web content; Assisting with development of proposals and determine gaps in the state of the knowledge; Meetings coordination, collaborations and service agreements for participants across Canada.

This work yielded four first author publications and secured external funding.- Assessed toxicity and antiviral potency of FDA-approved anticancer drugs to identify novel targets for anti-retroviral intervention.- Exposed new cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) immune surveillance evasion mechanism exploited by HIV-1. The manuscript to summarize this project in under preparation.- Coordinated regional/international multi-disciplinary collaborations resulting in four co-authored publications and external funding.

- Studied modulation of HIV-1-host interaction and the role of the HIV-1 accessory protein Vpu. - Elucidated immune regulation of BST2/Tetherin gene. BST2 protein has two very important roles, it is a key effector of the innate immune system and it is also responsible for preventing release of newly form virus particles from the infected cell. It is know to antagonize many enveloped viruses. - This work yielded four research publications (two of them, first authored).
