As a recent first-generation graduate from Illinois State University, I'm excited to take my experiences and achievements to propel myself forward as I begin to watch my career unfold. I've taken great joy in working alongside my distinguished and admirable professors in researching topics such as levels of self-disclosure among college students as a function of their attachment style and analyzing fatherly engagement through the McClean County Fatherhood Coalition. I continue to build on these respected skills as I have set another course in research this summer by working alongside Dr. Toro-Morn to analyze the COBAS (Communities of Belonging and Success) outcome through the Latin American Latino/a studies program at Illinois State University. Conducting this study over the summer of 2024 has presented me with challenges I am actively navigating. I've also found immense pleasure in working with children aiding them with their social/emotional development through organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington, IL, and most recently through the Normal Parks and Recreation Department as a summer counselor. In working with children, I've learned the beauty of adopting mindful and patient practices while attending to every child's needs. These positions molded me into becoming a responsive problem solver. Outside of these endeavors, I enjoy a holistic approach to my hobbies where I participate in yoga, zumba, pilates, and running. I've recently enjoyed tapping into my interests such as music (Chappel Roan lover here), makeup, and painting. As I continue to develop my personal and professional career, I am determined to serve disadvantaged communities by dedicating my skills, time, compassion, and love. I look forward to empowering myself and others through the opportunities we have every day. Please reach out to me at mamunoz2333@gmail.com
