She has held clinical and administrative positions with both payer and provider sectors charged with providing health care for populations challenged by social, economic, and environmental life circumstances. Mid-career, she resigned from her leadership position to earn her PhD in Social Policy (with a concentration in health policy and health services research) at Brandeis University as an AHRQ pre-doctoral fellow. In her position with IHA Dr. Ryan is working to bridge research, policy, and practice with the goals of improving the accessibility and effectiveness of healthcare services and reducing health disparities. She promotes embedding health literacy practices as a pathway to achieving health equity by making health information accessible to and actionable by all.
