Crafting stories, enabling authors to find their voice, supporting illustrators’ creative vision and pairing together the right words and the right images – these were all at the core, and daily routine, of my role as Senior Commissioning Editor at Walker Books.I have over twelve years of editing and publishing experience and I edit and manage a wide range of front list titles that include illustrated fiction, board books and picture books. Author care is very much at the heart of everything I do. I have many very strong, lasting creative relationships with well-established and commercially successful authors and illustrators such as Maggie O'Farrell, Polly Dunbar, Júlia Sardà, Raymond Antrobus and Eoin Colfer. But I also particularly love to develop new authorial voices in my role and invest in new talent.I have an excellent sense of the picture book market in the UK and, working on such an internationally focused list, means that I also have a keen sense of what will fare well in co-edition markets and in the US

I worked part-time as a Publicity Assistant for HarperCollins Children’s Books for two months after I completed a seven week placement. I worked in the Donegal County Enterprise Board, a government funded agency that promoted the growth of micro enterprises in the North West of Ireland.
