Marie's passion lies in mental health, and she actively promotes the need for a more holistic mental health service. She is a strong advocate of the need to involve mental health service users in the design, delivery and evaluation of the services they receive. As an advisor to Jigsaw for a decade, she has been a strong advocate for youth mental health. Marie was one of six members of the national reference group for HSE Mental Health Services, which contributed to the formation of the division of Mental Health Engagement.Her writing has received recognition, including a nomination for the 'Best New Feature Writer in the UK and Ireland' by the National Council for the Training of Journalists in 2008. Marie also received the Dewey Winburne International Award for Social Good from the SXSW International Festival in Texas and earned nominations for Irish Volunteer of the Year and the Irish Charity Hero Award. Marie is the author of the 'Spunout.ie Guide to Life,' a book aimed at empowering young people.She is a co-author of the 'International Declaration for Youth Mental Health'.
