I am a former San Antonio City Councilmember with over 12 years of experience in advancing climate, sustainability, clean energy, and energy efficiency solutions. I have a Master of Public Affairs degree from the University of Texas at Austin, with a focus on natural resources, diplomacy, and international security. As a Councilman, I hired and managed a staff of ten. I facilitated stakeholder engagement on a broad range of public policy issues and passed over 100 land use zoning and planning cases with community support. I also led efforts to upgrade our city's energy code, making San Antonio the first city in Texas to require all new homes to be pre-wired for Level 2 electric vehicle chargers. In that role, I led efforts to eliminate CPS Energy’s natural gas appliance rebate program, passed a $350M, 5-year energy conservation program, and initiated outside expert evaluations of CPS Energy’s financial health and operational efficiency.I served as a Project Manager at the Environmental Defense Fund, where I promoted state policies to facilitate the energy transition and adoption of electric vehicles and contributed to coalition strategy on legislative and PUC regulatory reforms. I also led the Neighbors of Oil and Gas Program to educate the public about potential health exposure risks from oil and gas activities and empower the public to respond to leaks. As a Climatebase Fellow, I completed a 12-week climate career accelerator program, where I learned from and networked with leading climate organizations and professionals.
