Supporting inclusive and sustainable trade growth in Malaysia, whilst contributing to economic integration in the ASEAN region via the trade-related technical assistance activities for Malaysia, under the EU-funded ARISE Plus Malaysia Project.• Led the Project team in Malaysia and spearheaded initiatives in Malaysia, and advancing economic integration within the ASEAN region and relations with the EU, by facilitating and providing comprehensive support for trade-related technical assistance activities. Key Results: i) Increased awareness on EU Green Deal elements such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and the EU Deforestation Regulations on the Malaysian economy; ii) Development of a National Quality Policy poised for submission for regulatory approval in 2024; iii) Fortified understanding addressing greenhouse gas emissions, leading to two Malaysian companies seeking accreditation as verification bodies; iv) Identified key measures to address remaining EU audit recommendations in the fisheries sector to support restarting export to the EU; v) Refinements to the implementation strategies of the upcoming Malaysia Fertiliser Act and development of the Integrated Pest Management Action Plan, both aligned with best global practices. • Successfully managed relationships with stakeholders, ensuring seamless project implementation, and fostering collaborative efforts towards shared goals. Key focal points include MITI, and its agencies such as MATRADE and Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) and its agencies, Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) and its agencies, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) etc. Project engaged with approximately 2700 participants, 550 entities, and more than 50 experts from the EU and ASEAN.• Provided expert technical inputs and guidance, ensuring that all project activities aligned with the specific needs and expectations of beneficiaries, particularly SMEs.

Legal counsel and secretariat support in various ASEAN meetings. Provide legal assistance in negotiating, implementing and reviewing existing ASEAN FTAs with Dialogue Partners. Monitor compliance to ASEAN economic agreements and its related legal instruments. Coordinate and facilitate effective operationalisation of the ASEAN Dispute Settlement Mechanisms, such as the EDSM Protocol.
