The earth lost a one of its most treasured possessions the first weekend in June 2018, Marissa Myers. Marissa was born on May 17, 1971 in Dallas, Texas. She was the adored and proud daughter of Bob and Helen Myers, a key ingredient in her compelling charm. Marissa joins her only sibling, Rob Myers, in heaven. They are now enjoying their angel status and are hoping to be entertained by your most stirring adventures yet. You might notice her faintly in the stars or sunlight goading you onward. Marissa attended high school with a close group of friends at Monta Vista HS in Cupertino, California, received a B.A. in International Relations from UC Davis and her Ph.D. in Quantitative Political Science from Indiana University. She also received her Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Georgia in 2008, after which Marissa served as the Youth Minister at First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto from 2008 to 2011. Somehow these bona fides led to a career in Marketing where she spent many joyful years making strong personal connections at Dreyfus Sotheby’s in Palo Alto and most recently at Opes Advisors in San Mateo. She cherished her extended family and their mutual connection to a beloved family cottage in Montreat, North Carolina. Along the way Marissa picked up a love-hate relationship with tennis, sometimes playing in as many as three leagues at the same time. The nature of that relationship was easy to detect at times. She was a spirited force on and off the courts where she leaves behind a strong community of friends. Blessed with an earnest capacity to care about all those she interacted with, promoting a sense of community was always very important to her. Mission accomplished. Rest in peace and rise in Glory, beautiful child of God.
