I am a marketing and communications professional in higher education. Led by market insights, brand identity, target objectives, experience and creativity, I develop high-level communications plans and oversee their execution. In the higher education space, I have developed and managed select communications efforts for the many individual audiences universities serve, including internal communities, alumni, parents, regional and global partners, trustees, benefactors and key stakeholders. Some of my notable work includes a redesign of the alumni magazine print and digital spaces, managing and developing content for a two-year relaunch of the websites of five schools and colleges, playing a leading role in refining a university brand identity and its related advancement campaign and producing a video series highlighting university stories. Currently, I direct presidential communications across audiences and platforms from in-person events and media appearances, to institution-wide messaging, to a comprehensive digital presence. My background is in journalism and I have served as lead editor on such projects as national magazines, special publications, websites, blogs and content marketing endeavors. Through these positions, I have led both editorial and creative teams, and partnered with print production, digital, sales, marketing and executive teams.Throughout my career, I have been led to positions with a heavy emphasis on Latino/Hispanic outreach and am proud to ensure that communication and marketing efforts are inclusive and authentically represent those we reach.Additionally, I have bylines in such outlets as USA Today, Gannett specialty publications, and San Antonio Magazine, among others. I have contributed to the Washington, D.C.-based National Immigration Forum and have directed content for the General Mills Foods' national multicultural marketing program, Qué Rica Vida.I am a native of San Antonio, Texas where I live with my husband, two children and a cat named after chef-writer Anthony Bourdain.
