I am a qualified Chartered Accountant with 25 years of post qualification experience. I have a deep understanding of how businesses record business information with computerised systems. I am passionate about helping businesses use this information to improve customer relationships, service levels and decision making. I am uniquely able to combine my accounting knowledge as a CA(SA) with my knowledge of information systems to create unique solutions for any business challenge. Examples where I applied this knowledge are:- Performing information systems risk assurance reviews at various national and governmental organisations ensuring audit compliance. - Program managing the implementation of a disaster recovery solution for a major German Bank in London. I coordinated the disaster recovery implementation between the IT support service and the business units. My business knowledge was tested as I had to instruct, persuade and coerce many different managers to implement disaster recovery measures within their respective departments and projects.- Project managing phases of the implementation of a front office trading platform within a major German Bank in London, Frankfurt, New York and Tokyo.- Designing and implementing a computer system at 200 businesses in Africa that enables business users to process information in a coherent and intuitive user interface while at the same time storing information in a normalised structure so that useful analytical reporting can be extracted from the database created. - A very clear understanding of “cause and effect thinking.” I know that solving the effect of a problem will not solve the problem. I am capable of this thinking because of my unique understanding of business and information systems.Outside of my work realm, I am a passionate husband, father, mentor and friend. I am married for 24 years and I have 3 children presently aged 18, 16 and 14 all of whom are apparently much more clever than I am.
