My role of Internal Quality Assurance is to make an informed judgement(s) regarding the practice of and decisions made by the assessment team to maintain standards.Ensuring that all assessors are trained and hold the most appropriate qualifications in linewith the relevant codes of practice and unit/qualification guidelines.Monitoring the centre’s assessment practice and procedures by carrying out interim andsummative sampling.Ensuring that assessors are fully briefed and carry out their roles appropriately.Identifying future training needs of assessors.

Operating as lead tutor for BTEC Level 2 and 3 Uniformed Public Service for the 16 – 19 sector. This involves; designing presentations for students that suit all learning styles, arrange outdoor activities for learning beyond the classroom, liaising with the Armed Forces Careers Office to create opportunities for learning beyond the classroom. This role also includes being the nominated representative for quality assurance and the lead internal verifier for Discovery College. These roles include acting as the main point of contact between Pearson and Discovery College to ensure the effective management of BTEC programmes and actively encourage and promote good practice, support the development of assessors and internal verifiers.

Worldwide service with the Royal Navy, serving in HM Ships and various shore establishments. On leaving the Royal Navy I attained the rank of Petty Officer. The post involved being Communications and information systems (CIS) Specialist. Using global and radio satellite communications and the latest military IT systems. As part of the team it was my responsibility to guarantee the secure exchange of mission critical information to surface units and shore authorities.
