As a composer, arranger and music editor, created numerous educational, instrumental, choral and keyboard publications published by Tempo Press / Lucks Music Library and the educational and sacred music publishing divisions of The Lorenz Corporation. Publications are available through J. W. Pepper and most retailers worldwide. In addition to school ensemble performances worldwide, some educational publications were recently added to the required orchestra contest lists for the Maryland (MMEA) and the Ohio (OMEA) Music Educators Associations. They have also been featured at The International Midwest Clinic in 2007, the Interlochen Center for the Arts in 2008, the 2011 Southern California Middle School Honor Orchestra and the 2011 Melbourne School Strings and Band Festival in Australia, among others. Represented organizations at sales conferences including serving as an exhibitor, presenter and speaker (see publications).

Experienced director of youth orchestras, school and church ensembles in California, Ohio and Oregon. Provided public and private school class instruction music in band and orchestra, choir, general music grades K-12, as summer faculty at the Idyllwild School for Music and the Arts, and as adjunct faculty at the University of Dayton and Wright State University. Maintained private studio for cello and bass; Sectional coach for the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon, Dayton Philharmonic Youth Strings and the Springfield Youth Orchestra. Students have held leadership positions in their local youth orchestras, Interlochen, Aspen Music Festival, Indiana University Summer Program, conservatories, schools of music and in professional orchestras. Many others just enjoy learning music for life and the fun of it!

Current member of the Rogue Valley Symphony of Southern Oregon under conductor Martin Majkut. Performed with the New World Symphony, former member of the Missoula, Santa Barbara and Spokane Symphonies. Studied four seasons at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute; Performed in orchestras under the batons of Leonard Bernstein, Herbert Bloomstedt, Lucas Foss, Howard Hanson, Christopher Hogwood, Paavo Järvi, Varujan Kojian, Erich Leinsdorf, Daniel Lewis, Jahja Ling, John Nelson, Gunther Schuller, Leonard Slatkin, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Michael Tilson Thomas, among others. Performed in choral ensembles under William Denning, Lorna Cooke deVaron, William Triplet and Daniel Pinkham. Performed in bands and wind ensembles under Arthur C. Bartner, Frank Batisti and William Schaefer.

Oregon

Manage artistic administration, recruitment, auditions and orchestra operations for Oregon All-State High School Orchestra. Selected and engaged conductors Neal Stulburg for 2011 and Diane Wittry for 2012, Dr. Martin Majkut for MENC-NW 2013 and will continue serving OMEA for 2014.

Centerville, Oh

Music Director for Centerville Youth Orchestra, an all-district orchestra serving area middle and high school students; Planned and directed three programs each season and a trip to an adjudicated festival; Centerville Youth Orchestra received Superior ratings and “first place” performance awards; String specialist grades 6-12; As interim director in 2006, prepared and directed middle school and Centerville High School orchestras. Centerville orchestra program serves over 750 string students.

Executive editor and founding editor for new publishing division; Editor, composer and arranger for numerous educational, instrumental, choral, keyboard publications and recording projects including the selection of material and its preparation for publication; Managed product development and production timeline encompassing artist and composer recruitment, royalty contracts and licensing agreements, musical composition and arranging, writing, editing, engraving, recording, layout and design, product and division marketing; Represented organization at sales conferences including serving as an exhibitor, presenter and speaker.

Walnut Creek, Ca

Managed all aspects of the organization including financial and office administration, artistic administration, concert season planning and production, contract negotiation, fundraising, marketing, public and community relations and board development; Launched a regional educational outreach program in the public schools and the Young American Composer-in-Residence Program; Presented emerging young artists including nine-year-old Sarah Chang and nine-year-old Helen Huang in their first subscription concert appearances with a professional orchestra; Hosting the young Ms. Chang included working with the Chang family, Dorothy Delay, reporter Edie Magnus and CBS 48-HOURS in the making of a documentary on child prodigies.

Miami Beach, Florida

Member of the artistic and administrative team with Michael Tilson Thomas during the organization’s inception and formation in 1987 that moved the orchestra from concept to its premiere performance in February 1988; Responsible for national recruitment which involved creating promotional materials to develop a national profile, developing relationships with artist teachers and schools of music and conservatories throughout the U.S.; Managed and participated as a panel member on national audition tours. Managed the orchestra’s day-to-day operations and served as liaison to conductors, artists and musicians. Managed artistic operations for NWS residency at the Big Sky Music Festival and operations for touring.

Taught UM double bass studio as GTA. Served as Principal bassist of the Missoula Symphony. Studied with cellist Fern Glass at UM.
