After 20 months of retirement, I am back in the vertical that I value so much: healthcare (and IT to be specific). I am working as an executive consultant with Swingtide. We are a boutique consulting firm with deep expertise in IT sourcing, technology management, and IT finance. Our methodologies have been developed over many years as senior IT executives and advisors to large and small companies. Simply put, we find a solution to your problems. I am doing work in the area of business development as well as consulting. I am having fun.My last role before retirement was at Ascension, guiding the work of its technology arm: Ascension Information Services. Recognition: four time achievement in Computerworld's Top 100 best places to work in IT and five time achievement for the eLearning 100 award.My summary for my work at Ascension: "I have thought about what I do (and by extension my team) for Ascension and elected to share a brief view. We really have a challenging opportunity in front of our IT team...Our organization’s highest strategic priority is to create sustainable person-centric delivery systems to serve individuals throughout their lifetime. Embedded in this strategic priority is work called "One Ascension" whereby we are looking at our structure, service delivery models and regionally integrated systems of care. To support this priority, we have embarked on the following three initiatives: First, transforming our health ministry (hospital and ambulatory) operations by restructuring our expense basis through a number of value-creation opportunities. These opportunities drive incremental value that fund the initiatives and close operating expense gaps. Second, implementing a standardized physician practice management service offering to include data platforms, processes and infrastructure for our employed physician community. Third, focusing on the development of a physician/caregiver-driven, person-centric and community-based care delivery model for the future."
