About Mark Baron

Editing a large variety short and long form award winning documentaries and news packages. I edited and contributed to 'Going home: The war in Sudan', which recently won an Emmy in the Outstanding Investigative News Coverage: Long Form category.From pre to post-production I work closely with producers, photojournalists and correspondents to help craft narrative, editorial, pacing, and shooting style. Using OSINT techniques like geolocation, chronolocation, and facial recognition, I have helped teams to investigate and verify leads that have led to successful reports which have seen real life changes to policy and law. Collaborating with producers, I have been able to help with the use of these new, innovative techniques; combining them with classic field reporting into a comprehensible narrative arc that allows for viewers to understand complex investigations simply. Also creating animated graphics where required utilising software such as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Google Earth pro as well as collaborating with 3D graphic artists.I am a well-respected member of the newsroom and enjoy working on CNN internationals’ highest profile investigative stories. My years of experience at CNN have given me a deep editorial sense allowing me to assist in script writing, research and creative discussions - enabling the production of the best possible finished pieces.
