General Electric (“GE”) is a Tier 1 contractor at the Hinkley Point C (“HPC”) nuclear power plant construction site, with a mission to deliver and install the two Arabelle steam turbines and power generators. This involves 1000 people directly employed by GE and it’s five Tier 2 sub-contractors. I am responsible for all IR matters relating to the GE Tiers 1 and 2 workforce within the HPC IR framework; the Tier 2s’ respective IR Managers report in to me, and, as a member of the Site Core Team, I report directly to the Site Director. I am the author of the GE IR Plan, and I also manage GE’s input to, and compliance with the Client’s site Competency & Qualifications Matrix.

I worked in the firm's Litigation Department where I was allocated a caseload of Employment Tribunal claims - everything from unfair dismissal to discrimination claims - to manage from: receiving clients' instructions, preparing and lodging ET3 responses, attending Preliminary Hearings (either in person or by telephone), fulfilling Case Management Orders, preparing witness statements, to either providing advocacy on behalf of Respondents at final Employment Tribunal Hearings, or instructing Counsel thereto

A 12 month FTC in K+N's Drinks Logistics division where its dray workforce is densely unionised and very challenging, hence this role entailed a 90%+ degree of industrial relations involvement.

- The national IR manager of a £2bn a year waste management business with 15,000 employees in UK- Veolia recognises Unite, GMB, Unison, URTU, Prospect, and The Community Union- Veolia has an approximate union density of 70%- I provided strategic and tactical advice on all industrial relations matters- I was the author and negotiator of all Veolia's national trade union agreements since 2000- Veolia had no official industrial action between 2001-2016- I was Veolia's lead negotiator in all national and, the key local, pay bargaining situations- I was Veolia's lead negotiator in all collective dispute resolution situations- I also led collective consultations in Veolia's main TUPE and redundancy exercises, and any other major changes to working arrangements- I coached and supported operations managers in ER cases, and design and deliver ER training- I have written and implemented many of Veolia's HR policies- I was a Trustee Director of Veolia's Pension Plan for 10 years; a Plan with £1bn in assets- I have been Veolia's lead negotiator in the following Change Management Projects which all resulted in an agreed outcome: The Joint Trade Union Forum; Substance Misuse Policy (introducing random and 'for cause' testing); Absence Management Policy; a final salary pension closure; and a harmonised staff contract of employment

- I reported to the CEO- I provided industrial relations, employee relations, and legal advice on collective and individual issues to member companies- I represented member companies in collective bargaining and dispute resolution situations- I case managed, prepared and represented member companies in Industrial Tribunal (now Employment Tribunal) proceedings, handling approximately 250 claims
