Building on my previous position at Curtins I continued as a Graduate Transport Planner for Goodson Associates. This involved producing transport assessments, transport statements and travel plans, as well as junction analysis and swept path analysis.Knowledge of the transport industry was increased through research of all relevant transport policy documents and legislation. A working knowledge of AutoCAD design software and junction modelling software (including LinSig and Junctions 9.0) were gained, and flexibility and adaptability were displayed by working between a number of projects simultaneously to suit changing business needs.

As well as co-ordinating duties the position included taking an active role in speaking with local residents. This role required excellent customer service and communication skills when consulting with residents encouraging them to complete a local travel plan. Duties were co-ordinated by providing street lists and supplies to the rest of the door knocking team. Invaluable experience of working in the transport industry was provided, which allowed practical application of skills learned during MSc at Edinburgh Napier University.
