Due to the sudden termination of the previous contract and while I seek positions in Doha/Dubai/Abu Dhabi, New Zealand and Australia I have been assisting businesses in Perth and Melbourne (Australia), Auckland, Christchurch and Hawkes Bay(New Zealand). Assisted these companies to either establish or become commercially and financially secure by establishing disciplines (processes and procedures) that include regular auditing of performance against pre-set and agreed targets.

$153 million Infrastructure Project – Earthquake City Rebuild2 days into what was expected to be the start of the 2nd year of a 3 year $153 million contract the Government agency in charge of the Christchurch earthquake rebuild, unexpectedly terminated the contract due political pressures.Assist the company with the consequent issues:- Assisting the Owners to deal with the “fall out” of the Termination;- Finalised claims against the Government;- Direct communications with the Government Lawyers and the Company Lawyers;- Retrenched staff and closed offices.

Australia

$35 million per annum Quarries/Logistic/PrecastApproached to join the company to oversee their quarries and transport interests in Victoria, Australia. Later requested to manage the Victorian Precast Concrete business.- Identified major administration & financial managements needs leading to;- Consolidation of staff in the Precast from 174 to 14 in my first 5 months;- Addressed all outstanding Local Government and Environment Protection Agency (State Government) issues that had been outstanding for up to 7 years;- Re-established commercial relationships with all the major Contractors and Suppliers in Victoria, South Australia and NSW that also included Councils and Government Agencies;- Returned the various businesses into their first profit in 30 + months and stabilised the Precast from a major loss to breakeven over the last 3 years;- Created an Australasian record for a Government consent (under 2 years) when the average time is 5 years with many Consents requiring up to 9 years at a cost of compliance averaging at $1 million per year;- Negotiated two 3 year Employment Contracts with the staff over this period that were approved by the Australian Government Commission.

Western Australia

$100million per annum – Highway Construction and Maintenance- Successfully negotiated a 3 year Contract Agreement with the Unions that allowed retention of valuable staff and a stable work climate in a crucial period for the company;- Completed “Discovery” for the company in a Law Suit with a major International Company;- Upgraded all IT systems;- Established financial policies and procedures and re-established professional administration that set a solid commercial foundation;- Assisted with the integration of a new business and retention of their senior management;

New Zealand

Infrastructure, Utilities and Highway Construction – Electricity Supply Management Responsible for the planning, provision and maintenance of critical infrastructure in 28 Community Councils across Southland.- Worked with the Local Government and Community Boards to plan, estimate and set budgets infrastructure projects;- Completed Highway, Utilities and |Land Development Projects throughout the Region;- Managed Consultants and Contractors delivering Design & Construction Projects;- Estimated, programmed and set Government Rates to achieve planned works.Stewart Island Electricity Supply Authority(SIESA):- Independently managed the electricity company, setting the fees and tariffs;- Eliminated the majority of debts owed to the business;- Investigated and purchased new and efficient diesel generators for the electricity Company;- Planned new Electricity Supply Grids for the Region;- Set up a 10 + 10 year management control contract for the business with a Expert Private Supplier.

Infrastructure, Utilities and Highway construction.Transform a Local Government business into a commercial Business. This required the restructure with the loss of 50% of the staff.Over the following 5 years the business grew by 400%.Major improvement in reputation resulted in enquires from numerous Local Government in Auckland (New Zealand) and Melbourne (Australia).Financial and administration processes and procedures were reviewed and changed with the new disciplines and targets achieved.140 staff were manage to deliver civil and maintenance contract works throughout the lower North Island of New Zealand.- The Company won numerous Awards for Excellence over many years and won the Supreme Business Award from 137 Professional & Trade Organisations;- However, the biggest personal success was at the first Christmas function as I was informed that only 30% of staff were likely to attend – all staff attended with their partners. This set the tone for an extremely successful business prior to it being privately sold in 2001.

Civil Engineering Infrastructure & Utilities Construction & MaintenanceEstablish Fulton Hogan (Civil Engineering Construction) in the Region that included Wellington city and an area to New Plymouth and Napier.Fulton Hogan did not have a base in the region and with 2 staff we developed Fulton Hogan into the 2nd largest Civil Engineering company in under 2 years. The company went on to purchase a competitor to establish itself as the biggest civil engineering company in the Region and New Zealand.Other works completed for Fulton Hogan over this period;- Project Manager for Nauru Airport upgrade and extension;- Project Director for Papua New Guinea Port Jackson’s Airport;- Completed the Milford Sound Highway Construction;- Lined the Manapouri hydro dam feeder tunnel;- Fortex Freezing Works from “green fields”;- Planning, design and development of major subdivisions..
