Currently, I have 40 years in the fire service. I served from firefighter to fire chief, for the city of Glendale, AZ, until 2015. Pursued a brief political run after leaving Glendale, and lost. Then worked at Arizona Fire & Medical Authority as assistant chief until 2019. I was appointed as fire chief for the Buckeye Valley Fire District, located in western Maricopa County, from 2019-2022.In May of 2022, I returned to the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority as fire chief, and we have now added the Buckeye Valley Fire District as a third partner agency.The Authority is a fully paid, all hazards department that serves the Sun City West and Whittmann (North County Fire District) along with Sun Lakes and Tonopah (South County Fire District) regions of the Phoenix metro area. Buckeye Valley is our newest partner agency as of January, 2023. The three partner fire districts joined the Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) that creates the unified Authority. Together, we operate 11 fire stations and 15 ambulances through 3 battalions with approximately 300 total personnel.We are part of the automatic aid system that serves over 23 agencies, all seamlessly dispatched by the Phoenix Fire Department.
