The Area Underwriting/Closing Manager will support an Area through the management of Underwriters and Closers.Specific responsibilities of this position are: - Lead the activities and/or operations of a loan a production team responsible for customer service, underwriting and closing documentation.- Provide escalation support between sales teams and external vendors and customers to ensure team is effective in the administration of each loan closing/underwriting transaction.- Ensure loan closing/underwriting transactions are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.- Provide updates and reporting as appropriate to Regional Underwriting/Closing Manager as it relates to the performance of the closing/underwriting functions.- Participate in strategic planning discussions for the Fulfillment Site and provide recommendations regarding future direction.Management Accountabilities: - Lead and Manage staff of 10-25 non-exempt indirect report team members in multiple loan administration teams for a defined operations group. Team members under direct reporting structure encompass managers and individual contributors.- Responsible for, or participates in, the hiring, coaching, developing and supervising of team members, including decisions relative to performance reviews, terminations, hires, discipline, salary actions, etc.- Influence performance of a business unit or functional area by working as part of the decision-making management team with responsibility for managing the budget of the team, department or unit.

Underwrite and approve in-house mortgage loans in accordance with secondary market standardsWork with Fannie Mae on loan salesReview appraisalsReview and resubmit loan applications through Loan ProspectorManage processing staff and ensure timely loan closingsReview and respond to mortgage quality control audits to ensure compliance from origination through closingWork with other departments to change company policy and procedures as needed based upon portfolio credit riskManage union staff according to negotiated labor contract and perform all HR tasks including interviewing, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, payroll and terminationsPrepare semi-annual credit risk management reports detailing risk throughout the company and ongoing mitigation effortsNegotiate with third party vendors to ensure favorable terms were agreed upon and that company standards were met.Implement and maintain an online mortgage origination system Monitor Fannie Mae pricing and set mortgage rates accordingly based on established profitability and competitive targetsAdministered a Federal Home Loan Bank grant program to provide down payment assistance or home improvements to low income single family homes

Originate first mortgages, process and clear conditions, cross sell bank products and close all loans including refinance, purchase and construction loansPrepare closing documents including the HUD-1 settlement statements and reconcile all disbursements for new loan setupsPerform all HR tasks with staff including interviewing, hiring, coaching, performance reviews, payroll and terminationsReport results and suggest improvements to operations and recommend additional training when needed
