I conduct reviews of Local Government boundaries to ensure electoral equality is being met and that the map of Local Government boundaries is kept in good order.Responsible for the day to day management of local government boundary reviews. Duties include: mapping of reviews within the ArcMap GIS system; giving presentations on reviews to senior staff and Local Government Boundary Commissioners; drafting reports, papers and presentation; assisting in drafting Statutory Instruments; stakeholder management in particular with Ordnance Survey and local authorities; dealing with correspondence including a large volume of public submissions; organising and conducting tours of areas being reviewed; working as part of a team to ensure the organisation is successful in its goals.

This involved looking after all aspects of Lord Deighton’s diary, setting up meetings, commissioning briefings, providing readouts to officials and covering all aspects of his remit of Infrastructure and Olympic legacy.

One of 9 review officers responsible for the 2013 review of Parliamentary Constituency Boundaries. I am personally responsible for the Yorkshire and Humber region. This involved producing schemes of the region that meet the requirements of the Parliamentary Voting Systems and Constituencies Act 2011 to be approved by the Commissioners. It also involves assisting Assistant Commissioners as they carry out hearings across England to allow MPs, Local Authorities, members of the public and any other interested party to make oral representations on the scheme for England. It also involved a lot of administration work, to deal with the representations received, validate them, and use them to create any schemes proposed by interested parties for Commissioners to consider. As well as this I also dealt with FOI enquiries and a great deal of office admin.

The Civil Service Appeal Board was responsible for conducting hearings for Civil Servants that had been dismissed from post for either disciplinary reasons/insufficient attendance/poor performance. I was part of the secretariat who administered such appeals and was responsible for around 60% of cases on an alphabetical split. This involved guide all parties through all aspects of the case (e.g preparing statements, commenting on statements, the day of the hearing itself, procedures should they be successful, calculating compensation, liaising between parties on any other matters).

Executive Assistant to a Senior Civil Servant responsible for Civil Service Workforce. This Senior Civil Servant was responsible for all pay and pension policy for Civil Servants. My role involved supporting this Civil Servant, being the first point of contact for them, organising their diary, preparing their papers, and any other admin duty required. This role also entailed acting as the secretariat to several cross departmental/trade union groups. I was also involved in managing the team's budget of £1.9 million

Hm Treasury

This role involved managing the diaries of 4 Special Advisers to the Chancellor of the Exchequer (first Gordon Brown, then Alistair Darling) and ensuring that they were fully briefed by officials, had the correct papers (often for foreign trips) and get basically in the right place at the right time with the right papers. It also involved some research for the SPADs and a lot of a basic office admin such as finance and travel booking.
