Profile bio

About Mark Corduff

Small business and property run through my veins and I’ve been fortunate enough to have worked with some of the best retailers, health services, hospitality businesses and commercial property owners nationally. I’m mesmerised by the ever-changing commercial landscape, the evolution of brands, the rise of both local and online shopping which pushes the need to continuously enhance the customer shopping experience and maintain the bottom line. Helping small business owners focus on what they do best, and sorting the big ticket items that they don't have much experience in (and nor should they) gets me out of bed every day.My career to date / experience has allowed me the opportunity to utilise my operational and commercial experience, that coupled with independent, corporate & franchise understanding I’ve sustainably grown retail businesses, delivered major change management pieces and improved turnover and achieved strategic commercial savings in each of my experiences.

Listed skills include Retail, Management, Marketing, Employee Relations, and 18 others.

Head hunted by Westfield to the position of Retail Experience Manager for Southland, one of their largest assets, my role was to guide the centres retailers and customers through a major car park redevelopment to coincide with the opening of the Southland Train Station. Retail Business Manager

Melbourne, Australia

Entering the business at an extremely challenging and emotional time underpinned by a now famous wage scandal, my role was to manage enormous change and unrest across 14 stores with a combined turnover of $56m.Along with the legal and compliance changes I drove through the 14 stores, the real challenge was in supporting and mentoring franchisees to become ‘retailers’ as opposed to ‘investors’. This was a fantastic and unique opportunity where I got to make a real difference.I designed bespoke business plans for each store that not only met financial targets but developed and mentored each franchisee to take their business to the next level by changing behavior and seeing their business through a new lens. • Drove change management through the 14 stores and supported • Increased $GP across the district by educating franchisees on how to best purchase inventory and capitalise on changing customer trends and marketing initiatives• Guided and supported each franchisee through what was an extremely challenging and emotional time by creating and driving business plans for each store

General Manager

Melbourne, Australia

Over my 6 years with Fast Times I had the opportunity to assist building the business from the ground up, taking it from 1 bricks and mortar store to 5 stores in premium centres, a warehousing facility and dominant online presence. Fast Times is a premium retail offering with strong ties to its community. I lead the business with a strong focus on its people, its brand and its marketing. The challenge was developing and evolving all of these areas in a competitive landscape while the business was in its infancy. I achieved this and drove it to become a true market leader.Rebranding and expanding the business gave me the opportunity to overhaul the talent and processes that set the business up for amazing success. I opened new stores, refitted the existing ones and created a flagship in Melbourne CBD that instantly gained international recognition. • Created training and development programs to attract and retain superior talent• Rebranded and expanded the business from 1 store to 5 stores and a strong online presence• Developed Fast Times apparel line and launched in house apparel brand while negotiating improved terms with suppliers to increase turnover and GP$

Regional Manager / Category Buyer

Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Australia

I moved quickly within Globe. Beginning as a casual team member my abilities were identified early on. Within 2 months I was managing that store, then moved to manage a much larger store, then sent on a mission to overhaul the flagship city store before being moved interstate to the role of Regional Manager and Category Buyer.Early on I identified an opportunity for the business in its talent, processes and store presentation. The business had the locations and the brands however it wasn’t connecting with its broad range of customers on the shop floor.I drove and exceeded sales targets in each store I managed through improving the talent, introducing targets & initiatives and coaching the teams on how important superior merchandising and customer service is for generating sales and facilitating repeat purchases.• Implemented and drove store budgets and individual staff targets across the network that saw in immediate improvement in turnover• Identified new category opportunities to increase sales and negotiated improved terms with suppliers that improved stores GP$• Refreshed each stores talent by implementing and managing KPI’s and overhauled talent acquisition

Manager & Projectionist

Century City, Waverley Gardens, Rivoli, Knox.

This was an exciting period of my career where I honed my management and hospitality skills in assisting the launch of the third Australian Gold Class Cinema while being hand picked to become a fully qualified Projectionist at the same time. I serviced numerous cinemas across Melbourne and Scotland. My role as a projectionist held large responsibility and was something that set up my operational lens for future retail roles. As the projectionist I was solely responsible for site operations and 10 – 16 cinemas. I would ensure the films started on time and resolved any technical issues on the spot when they arose to ensure a great customer experience and negate revenue loss. Film can have a mind of its own so troubleshooting and technical ability is something I learned quickly so the show would go on.• Fully qualified film projectionist, managing sites of up to 16 screens• Hand picked to open new sites and train new teams• Duty management of the site, responsible for up to 50 staff per shift
