Mark is a specialist in the design of major institutional, educational and research laboratory projects with over 25 years extensive experience in delivering technical and complex projects from the briefing and design phase through to project delivery. In particular Mark has an aptitude for understanding and resolving the complex technical issues of laboratory design in close working relationships with scientists, facility managers and contractors.Mark has been involved in teaching, research and analytical laboratory projects within Australia and New Zealand across health sciences, biological and chemical sciences, animal and plant sciences, environmental sciences and engineering. In addition to the delivery of generic flexible and adaptable labs for microbiology and chemistry, Mark has delivered specialist laboratory facilitiesincluding animal houses, necropsy facilities, fumigation chambers and liquid waste sterilisation systems, clean rooms, fermentation scale-up suites, DNA suites, high level biological containment facilities (PC3/QC3), sensory labs, food pilot plant, greenhouses, controlled environment rooms, electron and laser microscopy, animal and human imaging suites, structural biology, and materials testing and fabrication.Prior to joining HASSELL in October 2007 he was with Daryl Jackson Pty Ltd where he provided laboratory expertise for the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute and he led the University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research and the Australian Institute for Bioengineering andNanotechnology.
