Following the business decision made by Grace to investigate new untapped markets for our products. I was asked to become involved in this new project, primarily giving technical and product support to the sales team and sales leaders as we prospected new and unfamiliar markets

Within this role I had full responsibility for sales & margins, key account management, customer retention and growth strategies, in a circa. $9mm business. This also includes close liaison with R&D, product development, both in house and also customer based, to formulate tailored additives for new emerging cement types.In addition I am also involved in.

Working within a small team and reporting directly to the regional Sales Manager. I was tasked with developing and prospecting for our newly introduced cement additive product lines. At this time, cement additives were a new concept for the UK & Irish cement industries, so it was both exciting and challenging to help co-develop this start up product line.

Having secured a position with Grace in late 1989, I commenced employment as a concrete technologist in January 1990. In this role I was tasked with providing a high level of technical support to the field sales engineers as they developed and prospected the concrete admixture business. I was also giving support to our R&D teams for physical testing.

My initial position was as a concrete technician covering various ready mix production plants. I held this position for 2 years before being promoted to Technical Supervisor. This enhanced my role and knowledge and involved increased responsibility for ongoing QC and complaint resolution and controlling/directing a team of field and laboratory based.

I started as a trainee Technician learning the basics of concrete technology, both in practice and theory. My duties involved sampling and testing of raw materials and concrete QC as well as batching, production planning and plant maintenance.
