As an Account Representative, Mark’s responsibilities were to drive new business revenue from SME’s for both Print and Digital Products. However, due to Thomson Local going into Administration, Mark was unable to progress with this opportunity.

As an Account Manager working within the Corporate Advertising Sales Department, Mark’s primary responsibilities were to drive revenue from existing SME’s throughout the UK for both Print and Digital Products. In addition, Mark’s seniority and experience led to him being involved in coaching and assisting others in the team. Redundancy activities within Hibu led Mark to seek his next challenge in the sales profession.

During this period Mark operated within the Prospect Team within the Corporate Advertising Sales Department, generating new business revenue from SME’s for both Print and Digital Products through prospecting against a data base of potential target customers and through self-generation of pipeline through his own means.

For Mark’s first ten years at Hibu, he worked on the BT Phone Book, the principal responsibilities being to both renew existing advertising and also source new business for the directory. Prospecting and pipeline building was via calling against a target contact list and also through his additional prospecting means. Success and dependability in this role led to Mark being the first full time employee within the region to be offered the opportunity to become a Home Worker, hitherto an option not granted to members of this team

Mark initially started at Dell Computers as a Credit Controller within the Accounts Department. This brought him into contact with some of the sales team. It was this point that Mark took the decision to embark on a sales career and he applied for, and was offered a role within the Public Sector Sales Department. It was the experience of this latter role that enabled Mark to secure the first role at Hibu (as now known) in 1993.
