I had the good fortune to work for Gannett for 13 years, first as Creative Services Director for the flagship station, W*USA then transferred to KARE in Minneapolis as VP Programming/Marketing. This helped hone marketing and management skills allowing me to join a consulting partnership, Clemensen, Sheehan, Rovitto and Co. In that capacity I oversaw all marketing managers and media buying for the New World stations, and consulted several of the CBS owned and operated stations. Finally, through a lot of hard work, some luck and the mentoring of some great TV GM's and group heads, I was able to get the General Manager positon at WEEK in Peoria, IL. Bob Selwyn and Don Cornwell were the guys who took the risk and hired me! To them I am eternally grateful.Since taking that position, we have expanded local news, developed award winning local programming, hired and retained highly skilled managers, increased market share and this operation continues to be the highest cash flowing property in the GBC group. The company has successfully negotiated SSA's with Four Seasons, LLC to run WAOE-TV (MNT) and with Barrington Broadcasting for us to operate WHOI-TV (ABC). This has been a great learning experience for the entire management team and kept my career interesting and engaging. As of November 1, 2015, WEEK-TV was purchased by Quincy Newspapers Inc. and I continue to manage the Peoria Operation which includes operating agreements with WHOI-TV and WAOE-TV for the new company.
Listed skills include Broadcast, Television, Broadcast Television, Marketing, and 43 others.
