Production Manager
Production Manager
My current role consists of leading a Packaging department of 80 people and a Potent Manufacturing department of 12 people and organising the day to day running of the areas. I am responsible for the following;• Tracking overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) in the department by calculating equipment availability, performance and product quality. • Measuring performance by holding daily OEE review meetings and closing calendars on SAP in order to have packaging line improvement days as part of instilling a continuous improvement culture.• Managing deviations and corrective and preventative actions (CAPA’s).• Raising CAPEX and investment applications.• Raising and executing change control forms to document any changes within the department.• Representing the department in project meetings and taking ownership of actions related to new business opportunities.• Compiling and submitting an annual controlled drugs report to the Home Office which incorporates all of the controlled drugs handled at Aesica Queenborough.During this time period, I was also seconded as a production manager in a high capacity manufacturing facility for four months as well as the main pharmaceutical manufacturing department for three months whilst recruitment was being conducted for these areas.
Production Leader
During my time as a Production Leader for the Potent Manufacturing Facility at Aesica, Queenborough, I supervised a team of 6 people and organised the day to day running of the area. This included shop order preparation and auditing, working to an agreed schedule, problem solving, identifying and implementing improvements, controlled drugs transactions and tracking and trending data on visual displays.I reported directly to the Operations Manager and had a one to one with the Site Director each month to discuss the departments performance, customer requirements/forecasts and to set both departmental and individual targets. Each week I calculated the overall equipment efficiency percentage to identify which parts of the process were running particularly well and to identify potential improvements for aspects that caused equipment downtime or equipment that is failing to run to its validated capacity. I also collated all of the completed batch details and tracked yields on an excel spreadsheet to measure performance.
Team Leader
During my time as a Team Leader I learnt new skills and developed my existing knowledge in different areas of the business. I led a team of 3 people and carried out training with each of these individuals on blending, tablet compression and blister packaging. On a personal level I initiated and created procedures and cleaning work orders for the Potent Manufacturing Facility, completed manufacturing and packaging documentation audits and became accustomed to the control and movements of stock on SAP. I also completed training in raising engineering work order requests and permits to work to ensure that the correct health and safety policies are followed during the completion of work by on site engineers and external contractors.
Senior Production Operator
I spent my time as a Senior Operator learning new skills and carrying out work which I had no previous experience in. This included completing validation protocols featuring IQ's, OQ's and PQ's on new equipment, undertaking training on new machinery, determining schedule routings and taking part in daily meetings to ensure project targets were achieved.During this role I became competent on the following equipment;IMA Tablet PressTTP Blister PackerDomino PrintersPCE Vision Systems Upon gaining more knowledge and experience on processes in the Potent Manufacturing Facility, I shadowed the Team Leader to develop my skills before becoming a Team Leader myself in August 2011.
Production Operator
I worked in the Packaging department as a production operator when I first joined Abbott/Aesica and was involved with the following products;Anaesthetics - Sevorane and ForaneHumiraClarithromycinKaletraI was chosen to become a key member of a team who executed the packaging operation of Humira when the product was first introduced to the site. This included undertaking training on a Sortimat assembly machine coupled with a PCE camera system, and a blister packer and cartonner that were both manufactured and engineered by CAM. I also attended a Continuous Improvement workshop to ensure that the processes related to this product were as efficient as possible. I achieved an NVQ Level 1 whilst in this position and was approached to become an NVQ assessor. I completed an A1 assessors qualification in 2005.
