The operation was split across three sites.• I managed a core team of 60 technicians and support staff.• Responsible for ensuring the Prototype Build Teams Health & Safety.• I had financial responsibility for the Prototype Build departmental capital and revenue budgets.• Responsibility for engineering and building prototype vehicles. (X1 & M1 build phases), including the appointment and management of external design houses.• Responsibility for controlling and supplying all new program parts to point of fit for prototype builds. (X1,M1 & VP build phases) This included the operation of a warehouse and a small transport fleet. • Changed Prototype Build from a linear operation dealing with one program at a time to an organisation capable of supporting multiple programs across various build phases. Delivered the following programs: Aston Martin Rapide, One-77, DB11 (X1), DB11 (M1), Vantage and DB11 Convertible.• Established a structured approach to prototype builds. By implementing, CAD BOM alignment, virtual builds, detailed work instruction, co-ordinated parts chasing, concern reporting and problem escalation.• Produced and implement various business cases, including introduce rapid prototype capabilities (FDM & SLA) and low volume plastic parts production capability (vac casting) to supply product development and production.

    I managed a team of engineers to design, install and commission all process equipment and facilities across Aston Martin’s production facilities.• Established and developed Aston Martin’s facility department to cover all 3 production sites. • Established processes and procedures to select and control contractors. Ensured safe execution of contracts including adherence to CDM regulations and European machinery directives.• Planned and implemented the initial design office at Gaydon, including project management of building contractors and relocation of personnel from other sites.• Lead the co-ordination between Ford, architects, Land Rover, building contractor and the process equipment suppliers for the new AML headquarters & production facility. (8,000m2 offices, 34,000m2 production facilities costing £32.5 m)• Responsibility for design, installation and commissioning of all equipment for new production facility. Including paint shop, trim shop, two trim & final assembly lines and the associated end of line facilities (£11m).• Project managed the design, installation and commissioning of the underbody assembly facility at Gaydon, for the VH bonded platform including both facilities and process (£4.5m). • Implemented an electronic process control document system at point of fit.

Full responsibility for the team intergrating and maintaining, both MGF and classic Mini processes and facilities.Develop and implemented end of line and finished vehicle dispatch strategy including obtaining agreement at all levels of the plant and BMW's central engineering function in Munich.Developed plans and costings for refurbishment and replacement of all conveyor systems in CAB 1 (Longbridge's main Trim & Final assembly building). Attended a number of workshops in Munich, as part of wider site team with specific responsibility for presenting the Trim & Final assembly proposals to the BMW central engineering function.Following the sale of Rover Cars to Phoenix group I planned the relocation the Rover 75 Trim & Final assembly facilities from Cowley to Longbridge.
