This was a challenging and rewarding experience supporting a great group of people both at HSB as well as the numerous other Munich Re Companies spread across the UK and Ireland. As the only customer facing hands on support person outside of London, I was imaging, issuing, diagnosing and repairing equipment, inducting new starters and retrieving equipment for reissue or retirement all further supported by the capable Munich and HCL Global Service Desk for all work out of my scope. With the large majority of the global workforce home working and only travelling into the offices infrequently it gave a clear insight into the crucial use of Microsoft Teams and VNC for anywhere co-working or administration.

Went to M&S as a contract draughtsman in the boom years and quickly ended up being invited to be their CAD manager developer for their £100K HPUX BDP Eagle modelling system ( long before AutoDESK )Amazing technology for its time, Small filing cabinet and giant CRT, all with the power of the Atari ST or Small MAC which followed !Developed a 3D planning system from 1st principles to suit their Showroom development, estates department. Hand digitizing space plans, Modelling product lines in 3D with parametric application of door styles and similar.

On finishing college I wanted to do something I liked which was largely not what I had studied so I took a job as a draughtsman on a traditional A0 board and refined my technical and artistic skills. A fulfilling but minimum wage start which gave me time to assess what I wanted to do.
