Mark Ellis and his partner Stephanie Morgenstern are the creators of the international hit TV drama Flashpoint. In 2013 they were named Showrunners of the Year and Flashpoint received a special Academy award for Enduring Contribution to Canadian Television. As Head Writers, they’ve co-written 20 of the series' episodes, earning Gemini and WGC Awards for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series. Flashpoint received over 80 award nominations, including WGC, DGC and Prism awards as well as Canadian Screen Award, Gemini and Monte Carlo Best Drama wins. The show consistently won its timeslot in Canada and the US (CTV/CBS) and airs in 108 territories worldwide.Mark and Stephanie are the Executive Producers and Showrunners of CBC's World War II drama 'X Company', which debuted in 2015. The Canadian/Hungarian co-production is distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television.Mark and Stephanie currently showrun and Executive Produce the prime drama 'Allegiance' which premiers in 2024 on CBC and is distributed by Universal International Studios for Lark Productions.As a television producer, Mark offers key creative guidance from script to screen, while consistently delivering ambitious, world-class drama within budget.Mark co-wrote the acclaimed short film, Remembrance, which won a Jutra Award, a Genie Nomination and the top prize at the Worldwide Short Film Festival. A feature film version of the script took top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Pitch This! Competition.Mark has written for stage and radio and has lectured on writing for television and short film in Canada and Europe. He attended Ryerson University’s Radio and Television Arts program and the Berlinale Talent Campus.Mark and Stephanie have several new dramatic series in development, furthering their interest in bringing Canadian stories to the international marketplace.
