I helped to build this organization at its founding. It is dedicated to advancing peace building by promoting the methods and teaching approaches utilized by Congressman John Lewis. Define and execute strategies to address the turbulent state of policy making in the country as well as to provide educational resources to young adults to become more informed and involved in social justice issues.Notable Achievements Include§ Created an individualized 6-part training curricula based on the life, work and principles of Congressman John Lewis.

I was enlisted by the founder and former Assistant Secretary of State, Hal Saunders, to assume leadership of this action-based dialogue organization which is the founding idea behind the famous Camp David Accord. Managed the Carnegie funded organization, leading ~10 consultants and staff members in executing programs and approaches to reverse the polarization of civic space and build bridges through enhanced relationship-building and leadership development especially among young people. Led peace building efforts in conflicts with extensive contributions in domestic situations, corporate boardrooms, campuses and communities. Liaised with SDI Advisory Board members including President Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger, and James A. Baker lll.Notable Achievements Include§ Expanded the Sustained Dialogue Campus Network from 15 to ~60 campuses. Program aims to promote resolution of conflicts in academic environments between faculties and students, especially issues of racism and sexism.§ Served as SDI representative and co-host of the bi-annual Dartmouth Conference, which seeks to enhance relationships with the Russian Federation (RF) and avoid nuclear war. Participants included 3 former RF Ambassadors and ~50 prominent journalists, corporate leaders and diplomats. § Identified strategies to heal and improve faith relations in the United States by creating a faith dialogue between Islam and Christianity, with both local and national leaders. § Launched and served as interviewer for the Washington Ambassador Program engaging national ambassadors with audience member’s to expand knowledge of different cultures and political challenges.§ Formed the National Dialogue Awards, an evening promoting both national and international dialogue. Awardees include Congressman John Lewis, Senator George Mitchell, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Leader Nancy Pelosi, Representatives Gabby Giffords & Mark Kelly, musicians Winton Marsalis and Igor Buttmann.

I joined this non-profit organization founded by Congressmen John Lewis to enhance civil discourse and leadership on Capitol Hill. Led 10-person team driving initiatives to ‘heal the divides that arise in a thriving democracy,’ among members of Congress and Congressional staff. Set the vision for program growth and funding expansion by effectively engaging politicians and corporate leaders. Oversaw senior Congressional activities to enrich and support bipartisan discourse, including the Congressional Civil Rights Pilgrimage, both Senate and House Chiefs of Staff meetings, Member Reflection Groups, retreats and forums. Managed executive level relationships with some of the nation’s leading companies including: American Airlines, General Electric, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, Boeing, ExxonMobil, Daimler, and Facebook. Partnered extensively with ambassadors and diplomats, 100s of Members of Congress and Administration officials including Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, and current leadership from both sides of the House and Senate, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Ca.) and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). Notable Achievements Include§ Leadership contributions led to expansion across all metrics. Finances grew 20%; engaged largest number of Members of Congress; delivered largest single year of new corporate and foundation supporters; and introduced high-profile activities including the Faith & Politics’ Washington Gala.

I was recommended by General Colin Powell to build the faith contingent of one of the largest charities in the nation, founded by President George H.W. Bush. Managed and directed interfaith efforts, including National Faith Day at the National Points of Light Conference, regular trainings, seminars, individual reflection sessions and materials development. Obtained and allocated multimillion-dollar funding including $2.5M for the country’s largest AmeriCorps VISTA program and $300K MLK grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service. Notable Achievements Include§ Led delivery outcomes for a $1M gift for post-Katrina efforts from Universal Peace Federation and the Washington Times. Organized services through local non-profit organizations and mobilized volunteers. § Secured ~$1M in funding for creation of an innovative multi-year, multi-sector service nationwide program, ‘A Million Acts of Service’. Designed cross-community dialogue as part of a 5-person team with the Universal Peace Federation. Kicked-off program with a 25,000-person event on the National Mall. § Served as Committee Chair of the Gulf Care Consortium, a coalition of faith groups collaborating on relief efforts following the New Orleans oil spill.§ Directed allocation of a multimillion-dollar 15-city grant for ongoing hurricane and disaster relief. § Organized the annual Faith Day with prestigious speakers. Notable keynote speakers included President Obama’s Faith Office head Joshua Dubois, Neil Bush and Interfaith Youth Core’s Eboo Patel, and Martin Luther King lll.§ Partnered with 300+ affiliates to create an evaluation manual to guide congregations in building capacity to administer social service, disaster and education programs.

I joined this non-profit founded by General Colin L. Powell, following my success leading the Community Section of the Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future, a national summit attended by all the living U.S. presidents. Managed the Interfaith & Community Initiative of America’s Promise. Served in an advisory role as National Director to the Chairman. Fostered and built partnerships across community stakeholders including businesses, nonprofits and elected officials. Led corporate community relations for America’s Promise in Texas, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona.Notable Achievements Include§ Launched the Greater Washington DC Mentoring Network which connected youth with adult peers to promote life skills and educational advancement.§ Established 150 community and faith-based affiliated organizations and secured 25 national partners, including the US Catholic Church, The Salvation Army, Southwest Airlines and The Woodhull Institute for Ethical Leadership.§ Authored America’s Promise’ response to President George W. Bush’s Faith-Based Initiative. Report resulted in an event in the White House Rose Garden with the President.§ Innovated new state level initiatives including the Alabama Community Summit with Attorney General Bill Pryor of Alabama.
