At LiveJournal, I started at a small company of 6 people in the social media industry which was new and uncharted territory at the time. There were new issues to tackle every day, especially when it came to setting guidelines for user conduct and developing policies and procedures to handle a wide variety of content. I worked with company management, legal teams, and members of the LiveJournal community to develop and communicate policies and standards, many of which have become industry standards used by a variety of popular social media services today. I transitioned and managed all aspects of the company's customer service and technical support teams from its early startup phase of managing volunteers, through a heavy growth period where new employees were brought on with assistance from volunteers, and into its current state as a mature company of 50+ people run exclusively by staff members in multiple countries speaking multiple languages.
