Many people are afraid of change and the unknown. Throughout my career, it’s in these circumstances when I’ve been at my best. New markets to build, new capabilities to develop, new strategies to realize… yes please! No fear here. Now cats, that’s a different story. The way they stare into your soul scares the snot out of me!In my day-to-day work, I help organizations through growth-related inflection points (developing a new strategy or operating model, integrating an acquisition, deploying a new capability, leveraging AI to improve how they create value for their customers, etc.). In non-consulting speak, I make sure the money organizations invest in a growth strategy delivers measurable business value. Four things to know about me:1) I believe the #1 reason growth initiatives fail is because of a tenuous connection to real business impact. While it’s nice to have new shiny things, I’ll work hard to sell you on not moving forward with an investment when I don’t believe the business value is there.2) I’m a huge proponent of acting with 70% certainty to create forward momentum. While you’re likely to experience a little motion sickness along the way, it’s incredible how much you can achieve when you start moving.3) Despite my strong feelings that there is a correct way to load a dishwasher, I love living in gray space. With our current environment of high volatility and rapid change, we must find ways to create clarity amidst chaos. And then do it again. And again.4) I try to live my life like a windshield. I’m voracious about taking in new information, perspectives, and ideas through the 90% of the windshield that’s forward-facing. I also value the 10% of the windshield allocated for the rearview mirror to remind us of past lessons and from where we’ve come.
