Following my retirement from Wiltshire Fire and Rescue as an operational Officer I undertook a consultancy role to complete the control room combination project I was involved with. I was subsequently asked to complete a number of tasks to resolve project issues. I started working on the ESMCP project as early as 2016 identifying the art of the possible and likely project scope. I now undertake the project management role for Dorset and Wiltshire FRS.

I am currently part of a small team involved in the strategic collaboration programme between Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and Dorset Fire and Rescue Service. This has led to a number of significant projects coming online such as a reduction to a single control room for both services, joint aeiral and fire appliance specification and replacement, joint procurement program). I researched, recomended and implemented a project management policy and governance structure for Wiltshire FRS that was Prince light and could be supported by existing software (I Service). I was responsible for the service delivery for Response (Fire Appliances and personnel) , Prevention (Community Fire Safety) and Protection (Technical Fire Safety) across the Swindon Borough Council Authority (SBC) Area with a total of 138 operational and corporate staff. The role also required that I was a member of the SBC Community Safety Partnership Commissioning Group and the Safegaurding Adults Board.

I was responsible for new equipment being introduced into the service. This included the business case, equipment user and output specifications, the production of risk assessments, equipment notes, stowage solution and training requirements with a small team. During this period of my fire service career I also undertook the role of the service member of the South East Region New Dimmensions Team that designed and introduced the Governments new capability to deal with terrorist… Show more I was responsible for new equipment being introduced into the service. During this period of my fire service career I also undertook the role of the service member of the South East Region New Dimmensions Team that designed and introduced the Governments new capability to deal with terrorist activity. I personnaly introduced the Incident Response Unit (IRU) and trained the whole workforce including additional traininers in the theoretical and practical aspects of mass decontamination. The team regularly responded to national incidents such as an unexplained building collapse in Strathclyde and acted as auditors for mass decontamination training exercises for fire, Ambulance and Police.For 15 months I was seconded into the regional Fire Control Project for two days a week where I reviewed the appliance, officer and New Dimmension operational implications of the thirteen workstreams of the project. I also sat as a member of the Natiuonal Implementation Group that met monthly.For both of these roles I was required to give strategic briefings to the senior management team. Show less
