ONSI is a fintech start-up that fills the social protection gaps (for example, lack of access to sick-pay) that gig economy workers face.As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the co-founder and COO, this role advanced ONSI’s social impact goals through:- Designing and delivering a repeatable impact measurement approach across all elements of their Theory of Change- Delivering qualitative insights into what gig-economy workers want and need - for example, as a consequence of the cost of living crisis- Leading our thought leadership agenda and policy engagement with partners such as the World Economic Forum.

The Queen Rania Foundation (QRF) is focused on improving chronically low literacy levels in Jordan’s schools. I led two teams (12 people) in order to:- Strengthen the quantity and quality of advice to schools by transitioning an existing workforce to focus on improvement, rather than compliance- Launch a ten year national literacy strategy with the backing of key partners such as the MoE and USAID- Deliver new evidence-backed programmes that acknowledge the multiple factors that cause low educational performance.For example, we:- Ran a parental engagement campaign- Built child-appropriate libraries- Provided teachers with useful evidence on effective teaching- Developed and tested a context-appropriate phonics intervention.

The Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) plays an important role in catalysing innovation in humanitarian emergencies through grants and research.I led the team through a successful strategy refresh that placed greater emphasis on new social innovation methods and partnerships, alongside a more ‘hands-on’ approach to grant management in their scale-up fund.

Developing the strategic insights to allow Pearson to become a company focused on the delivery of Learner Outcomes, reliably and at scale.In two years we - • Brought the first at scale 'experiments' to Pearson, by testing insights from the Behavioural Sciences with hundreds of thousands of learners • Delivered world-class research to predict the jobs, and skills, that will be in demand in 2030 – and what that means for learning• Synthesized the evidence base for what great school-aged learning looks like, and made that accessible – and actionable -- by non-researchers• Took the important messages of John Hattie and Charlie Leadbeater to hundreds-of-thousands of people, and advanced the argument for taking Artificial Intelligence in Education much more seriously.

NESTA is the UK's social innovation charity. My key achievements included:- Constructing a portfolio of high-impact social investments - many of the organisations supported went on to be a core part of the UK response to Covid induced learning loss- Developing new areas of work - for example, a system initiative to strengthen the quality of the EdTech system in the UK- Policy engagement, events and research. For example, authoring the skills section of Plan I: the case for innovation-led growth.
