The Board establishes broad educational, fiscal, and personnel policies, and oversees the efficient management of the State System. As the Policy intern, my primary responsibilities include:I created benefit enrollment trend visualizations utilizing publicly available administrative data. This involves analyzing data and presenting it in visual formats that offer insights into trends related to benefit enrollment.Additionally, I conducted a literature review to investigate the barriers veterans face when trying to access various benefits. This research will help us better understand the challenges veterans encounter in accessing the support they deserve.One of my key tasks was to monitor state-level policy changes. This will involve keeping track of developments such as states adopting telephonic signatures for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and any new legislation aimed at funding basic needs on college campuses. Staying informed about these changes will be vital to our policy analysis efforts.I also contributed to documenting best practices for outreach and enrollment related to the recently established Affordable Connectivity Program. This program plays a critical role in ensuring affordable internet access for underserved populations, and I will assist in capturing and disseminating best practices.Finally, I am responsible for researching and documenting state-benefit administrative data for further analysis. This data will be instrumental in our policy research and decision-making processes.
