MapsPeople creates a dynamic mapping platform named MapsIndoors. During my time at the company, we've gone from being a 35-person startup to a 100+-person scale-up listed on Nasdaq.As both Team Lead for Web, Technical Product Lead, and UX Designer, I've been technically responsible for, or contributed to, most major development work undertaken during my tenure. This includes:- Multiple web and mobile apps, design and technical delivery. Most notably our Map Template for Web, with hundreds of thousands of downloads on npm, acting as the primary business enabler for most major customers in 2023 onwards- Mapbox Support across all platforms, including working in close collaboration with their product and engineering teams to get access to cutting-edge features for 3D maps- 3D Maps: Enabling our customers to go from flat, tile-based raster maps, to using 3D models and vector-data to create immersive floor plans- Ground-breaking concepts such as Display Rules to allow admins to control all aspects of the styling of their indoor data; adding Live Data integrations from your smart building sensors, including occupancy, temperature, asset tracking, or workstation booking status; managing Indoor Network Graph by setting restrictions based on specific user roles and managing accessibility-optimized routes.

Hired as the first Product Designer at Opbeat, an Application Performance Monitoring platform acquired by Elastic, and rolled into Kibana’s APM offering.With investments from Instagram and Spotify co-founders and more, we set out to change the DevOps space by focusing on smarter monitoring and alerting with clear accountability.Reporting to both CTO and product-focused CEO, I was responsible for discovery, design, and delivery of features related to customer onboarding, Git integration, initial instrumentation, and ongoing monitoring of backend and frontend applications.Besides the main web application at opbeat.com, I also created user flows and initial designs of our innovative mobile apps for iOS and Android alongside our UI designer.After initially focusing on the combination of Python (Django) and vanilla JS error logging and release tracking, we narrowed the scope to performance monitoring of apps with a Node backend and React frontend. By conducting user interviews and poring over user metrics, it was clear there was a gap in the market for the customers using this particular combination.What is standard APM features today was the future at the time, and we helped set the bar for great design in DevOps applications. We did it with innovative features, like assigning users who wrote the code causing performance bottlenecks to improve it themselves, or easily discuss error logging alerts with colleagues while on your phone.
