It will enable the connection of the new WHTBL motorways into the existing motorway network, delivering connectivity and safety benefits for public transport, freight and private vehicle customers, improving the journey experience for existing users. Mark is the Independent Certifier’s Construction Manager and his duties include the management of verification services for the design, construction and demolition of the project infrastructure, including the Permanent Bridge works, which entails the monitoring and reporting on the planning and undertaking of these services, including the identification of: risks and opportunities; non-conformances to the Deed, the specification and the design; the results of surveillance and audits of construction and its management processes and the certification of the works for conformance to the Deed.The focus is to encourage and steer the IC team to provide a supporting role to the contractor by providing accurate and timely advice on conformance and best practice. This was achieved through the rapid response of the approval process to scope and design changes within required timeframes, and confirmation conveyed to their respective construction teams by the PV team. An important part of this strategy was for the IC team members to develop a close working relationship with the contractor and client by having all team members earning their counterparts respect and trust at their respective levels.Key achievements: The collaborative approach is a key achievement of all parties on the project, and this enabled the IC to provide a balanced and trusted view, giving confidence to the client that the desired Project outcomes were being achieved.
