I began using GIS as part of a team that created an inventory of wetlands for the coastal watersheds of Southern California. Before that, I had very little exposure to GIS in spite of my enthusiasm for studying ecosystems and geography.Since that time, I have been able to assist in various types of GIS work. I had an opportunity to take the lead in another mapping project studying changes in wetlands over time. We finished ahead of schedule and under budget. It was a very rewarding experience. Because GIS is such a great tool for documenting and analyzing our world, I'm happy to find new ways to put it to beneficial uses. I enjoy learning, as well as sharing my knowledge with others. There are always more things to learn, and I've discovered how rewarding sharing my skills with environmental organizations can be. While my main interests are environmental and wetlands related, I'm happy to take part in all kinds of GIS work because I learn new things with each project. My greatest happiness today, is to be of service to others, and GIS offers ample opportunities for that.
