As past Chief Operating Officer and Principal at Cooper Carry, I bring 45 years of experience as an architect, manager, and team administrator. At Cooper Carry, I was responsible for the operational aspects of the Firm including continuing education, project delivery and technical services, quality management, human resources, information services, accounting, administration and facilities, and risk management. With the assistance of my leadership, the Firm enhanced its ability to deliver creative project solutions with exceptional professional service. I was named Chief Operating Officer in 2007 and Principal in 2015.I am a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA, 1987) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB, 1987). In 2016, I joined the newly formed AIA Large Firm Roundtable COO Subcommittee and was asked to serve on its Executive Committee in 2021.I am a Certified Aging Services Professional (CASP, 2007), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP, 2009), Certified Managerial Coach (CMC, 2010, ), and a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT, 2011) certificate holder. I also earned the Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C, 2021) credential. I am licensed to practice architecture in five states.I received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 1977 from the Ohio State University and am a 2009 MBA graduate of Kennesaw State University. I serve on the Board of Directors for Lenbrook (2011-Present), an Atlanta Life Plan Community, where I previously served as Chairman while also serving on its Long-Term Planning Committee as Chairman and Governance Committee. Community service also includes various religious ministries and homeowners’ association governance.My interests include our family's spirituality and well-being, followed by, in no order; gardening, college football and hoops (OH-IO, HOOT!), walking, camping, and hiking, occasional golf and tennis, water skiing and horseback riding when provided the means/opportunity. I also enjoy music, especially any type of rock or blues, live and up-close; history, touring/traveling and being in and around old towns, cities and architecture, cool interiors, and voluminous landscapes. I'm blessed with a terrific and talented wife, Betsy; three great kids; Louie and Gabe, 31-year-old twins and their 30-year-old sister, Catie; a fabulous daughter-in-law, Mary Beth (Louie) and their beautiful daughter, Catherine. Our Pekingese mix, Prince, and his Maltese brother, Mies, keep us happy at home.
