Mark Koopman Work Experience Details
  • University Of Utah
    Research Project Manager
University Of Utah Aug 2012 - Present
    Salt Lake City, Ut
I teach an undergraduate/graduate class, "Materials and the Environment" in the Dept. of Metallurgy at the University of Utah. I also lead a DoE funded research program for developing a new technique for forming titanium components through Hydrogen Sintering and Phase Transformations. This project aims to significantly reduce the amount of energy involved in producing titanium parts, and therefore the cost. When these parts are substituted for steel parts in automobiles, it will reduce the weight and save on fuel costs over the lifetime of the vehicles.
