I am currently working as an IT Technician although my job title is not reflective as to what I do. initially starting with the Leadership Trust with a fellow IT technician and IT manager it is now my responsibility to look after the entire ICT infrastructure and IT systems. Which at the time included a mix of 6 servers (Windows Server 2000, 2003, 2008, Esxi, VMWare) We firstly raised the functional AD forest to 2008R2. This included recently planning and implementing splitting the network and domain and its associated SQL databases when the Leadership Trust and Penyard House became 2 organisations out of one. The planning was even more difficult because of the diverse options available for prospective purchasers of Penyard House. It was viewed that moving most systems into the cloud. So in a 10 month period we moved our Lotus Domino emails into a cloud based initially Exchange 2010 and then 2013. Moved our files from our NAS's into SharePoint. Moved our Dream finance package into a cloud based Sage. I also set about exporting our SQL based training and hotel based system KX into an online package AccessPlanIT. I personally wrote most of the queries to export this data and mapped this to a new system we had never used. Needless to say it was a stressful but exhilarating time and has given me many insights into planning technical projects and dealing with complex technical issues as well as training end users. This is just a very brief summary of the last 10months
