My main focus in this role revolves around any video production we undertake. For some projects, I do top to bottom video production, from pre-production (requirements gathering, storyboarding), to production (lighting, shooting with DSLRs or HD cameras, recording voice overs, and music production), to post-production (editing, motion graphics, audio mixing, and encoding files for different deliverables). For some projects, I do top to bottom video production, from pre-production (requirements gathering, storyboarding), to production (lighting, shooting with DSLRs or HD cameras, recording voice overs, and music production), to post-production (editing, motion graphics, audio mixing, and encoding files for different deliverables). In most of these types of projects, I'm a one man production crew.For other video projects, that might require collaborations with external agencies or larger crews or production companies, I take on more of a co-producer/co-director role. I help coordinate communications and assets amongst the many people and parties involved, and help move each project forward during all phases.My other responsibilities include in-house photography (portraits, group pictures, product photography), and assisting the IT department in supporting and deploying the growing number of iOS and Mac OS devices. After the Vision Fitness company merged with Horizon Fitness and Matrix Fitness, and became known as a brand under the Johnson Health Tech umbrella, I transitioned to a Marketing Specialist role. I was a swiss army knife of sorts, continuing to help with design documents and completing top to bottom video production. Along the way, I started to help less with design documents and focused more on assisting the other full-time web developer complete web development related projects. I used many different programming languages and frameworks, including Django (python), CodeIgniter (PHP), javascript, CSS, and a bit of .NET. I'd touch back end and front end code, and did some minor database management in MySQL and PostgreSQL. I also did some minor website deployment with scripts and code versioning in SVN and git. As the North American marketing and product teams transitioned into a global team, a larger web team was formed. I assisted in the hiring of the head web development manager, and other web developers during this formation, and helped gather requirements for potential workflows and frameworks.A highlight during this time period was helping to spearhead a new product database. This product database gathered all current and historical products and their related documents. This database would eventually feed intranet support sites, and external facing product and marketing sites. I wrote BASH scripts that would sync thousands of documents on internal file servers with external servers, and would be linked up with a file that set up relationships between documents and their products.As video projects became more plentiful, and more demanding, and the web team became larger, video production started to become my main focus. In this role, I designed, illustrated, converted, and modified design documents related to product and marketing for print materials and website usage. I helped with web development related activities as well. A major highlight of this time is when I spearheaded in-house video production, by spec'ing out equipment needed, like cameras, lighting, grip equipment, computers, and software. A highlight of my time here was helping to convert the all digital impositioning templates for film to templates for use with the new direct-to-plate output devices. In this position, I preflighted, proofed, edited, and printed digital files that we received from outside sources. These files were used for run-of-print and classified ads for the Wisconsin State Journal and The Capital Times. I also did the same… Show more This was my first full-time job out of college, and I learned a lot from it. I worked for this wonderful place while I attended college. I was able to work very odd hours to fit my schedule, and that provided me with great flexibility. In this role, I designed web pages based on existing printed publications and journals. The Institute had a summer workshop that trained K-12 teachers how to teach chemistry more effectively, and it turned into a big highlight for me. During this workshop, I was lucky enough to teach some rudimentary web page coding, and the… Show more I worked for this wonderful place while I attended college. I was able to work very odd hours to fit my schedule, and that provided me with great flexibility. In this role, I designed web pages based on existing printed publications and journals. The Institute had a summer workshop that trained K-12 teachers how to teach chemistry more effectively, and it turned into a big highlight for me. During this workshop, I was lucky enough to teach some rudimentary web page coding, and the teachers were able to use that knowledge in their workshop lessons. I was also able to help deploy a web based survey that the teachers took, and then I helped test and aggregate those survey results to partially inform the Institute's outreach plans. Show less

I worked here part time during college, and it was a great learning experience. I've used and enjoyed Apple Computers since I was 5, so this was a good fit for me, and really expanded my knowledge at the time. In this role, I helped sell and troubleshoot Apple related hardware and software, and also provided phone support.
