Primarily responsible for the delegation and control of a team of shift maintenance technicians tasked with the role of the safe and efficient running of production lines. Involved with fault finding on production line equipment including Omron PLC’s,SCADA interface, Fanuc and Nachi robots, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, SCR driven weld timers auxiliary cooling water systems and associated control systems. Part of the role included the creation of Daily Shift reports, Major Breakdown Reports and using the subsequent information to plan weekend and main shutdown workload. Familiar to working within strict time constraints and within high pressure environment. Responsible for the implementation of continual improvement programs and strategies to increase performance of equipment and manpower efficiency. Strong communication skills were employed at all levels from breakdown organisation to planning meetings.

1993 -1994 Auxiliary Equipment Section Leader – HMS Edinburgh Supervisor of a maintenance team tasked with the calibration and defect rectification of auxiliary equipment including air conditioning plants, refrigeration systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical generation and distribution equipment and static frequency changers. Undertook watch-keeping responsibilities as shift supervisor accountable for the controlled and safe operation of propulsion, electrical generation and auxiliary equipment including LP steam boilers, LP and HP air compressors, diesel generators, water distillation plants and associated pipe-work supply system. 1994 – 1996 Propulsion/Controls Chief Petty Officer HMS York Team leader responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a gas turbine propulsion system and associated transmission equipment including CPP system, PID loop and gas turbine controls. Planned, organised and implemented the maintenance schedules appropriate to the propulsion electrical control system, and all instrumentation encompassed by the propulsion system.1996 –1998 Maintenance Manager/Control Room Supervisor – HMNB Clyde Submarine Syncrolift Facility The role involved trouble shooting and maintenance management of all electrical and mechanical equipment and any associated control systems within the syncro-lift facility, this included synchronous motors, strain gauge cells, hydraulic capstans and winches, electrical overhead cranes and syncro-lift platform controls. Utilised as a docking supervisor employing man-management skills to co-ordinate the various services and personnel required in the process of docking a nuclear submarine. Departmental risk assessor producing risk assessments for all electrical maintenance operations, also utilised as an internal auditor experienced in carrying out internal audits to comply with BS EN ISO 9002.
