Export and Asset Finance Professional covering all export credit (ECA) and multilateral agency financing aspects including project and structured finance for LNG, petro-chem, energy, infrastructure, satellite, transportation, aviation and shipping finance.I am a lawyer and a banker who utilises my legal and technical skills combined with commercial pragmatism. I am very experienced in dealing with complex multi-ECA financings (often combined with multi-lateral agency and development finance institutions’ support) as well as simpler financings and finding solutions to the various (and often new) issues that arise in such financings. This has resulted in me being experienced in the products of over 30 of such institutions. I have been fortunate that, throughout my career, I have been involved in many pioneering and innovative financing structures such as the first Airbus ECA on-lending structure, first Islamic based export credit, first European ECA wrapped bond, first ECA supported loans to emerging and developed market sovereigns, first ECA corporate structures in China, Vietnam and Russia, first Green Loans across a number of types of facilities (most recently being for container ships, subsea cable link and Turkish wind and solar projects), first UKEF Export Development Guarantees and SACE Push guarantees, multiple ECA supported local currency financings, ECA funded and fixed interest support covering mega-cruise vessels (and other projects) and export credit combined with tax leases for aircraft and ships. I have been involved in working on at least one ECA Deal of the Year winner or nominee year on year, most recently being the first Sinosure and KEXIM/K-Sure supported JOLCO ship financings. I am also very familiar with what is required when transactions go awry and experienced in restructuring, debt and asset recovery as well as dealing with the ECA’s claims processes. I have had the benefit of being able to demonstrate my strong skillset as a leader and manager of multi-cultural multi-disciplined teams in diverse locations in challenging environments and involving complex transactions.I am a firm believer (and have shown on multiple occasions) that it is always possible to find a solution to issues between various parties. The solution may not be immediately obvious but so long as the relevant parties want to try and do a deal then it is always possible to find a mutually acceptable way forward.
