As a patent attorney with 17 years of experience, I have personally obtained hundreds and hundreds of patents, domestic and foreign, on behalf of clients. Supervising, training, and ghostwriting others, the patent count is in the thousands.Having risen through the ranks at one of the largest IP firms in the world, managing attorney teams for two Fortune 100 companies, I was heavily relied upon to advise on infringement and due diligence, as well as drafting patentability, freedom to operate, noninfringement, and invalidity opinions.My current practice, having started my own firm in 2023, concentrates on startups, mid-size companies and university technology transfer offices.AUTHOR, SPEAKERIn 2022, two of my guest articles were recognized as the most-read for legal industry magazine Law360 (on patents in Russia in view of sanctions). Recent electronics patents include ocular and other medical implants, filter circuits employing gate tunneling FETs, PCB antennas, microwave resonators for 5G, and Marx generators. Recent mechanical inventions include microfabricated cell scaffolding, endoscope tools, bioreactors, a biologics manufacturing center, a YAG laser waveguide, and fire-resistant cables. Software technologies include on-the-fly video editing & sharing tools, digital twin optimizations, and computational linguistics supported by machine learning models. Above all, I treasure aeronautical inventions that even distantly relate to my pilot's license.Writing a patent is, in effect, writing a unique law.
