I have worked through all the stages of development with new build, existing and listed properties. I have also worked on different procurement methods, typically lump sum JCT contracts and design build.The majority of the projects have been in the residential sector, both private and publicly funded, although as part of a general practice I have also worked on ecclesiastical, community and education projects. Project values ranging from £1,000 to £3,000,000.Entrusted to run the projects on a day to day basis and engage with clients, suppliers, contractors, sub contractors, statutory authorities etc directly. I then reported to the directors on a regular basis, discussing key issues, targets and any potential issues with them, developing strategies for the successful completion of the schemes.Developed my own designs for the practice, but also worked with others, often collaborating and developing schemes as part of a team. I value the critique process that allows for designs and ideas to be tested within a posi- tive atmosphere of the studio prior to discussions with those outside of it.Acquired a thorough technical knowledge of construction and experience of working to meet code for sustainable homes, passivhaus, building regulations and using SAP analysis tools.I have developed a strong sense of professionalism which has been required when dealing with contract claims, inexperienced clients, and over zealous contractors. I have formed a friendly but firm and fair approach that treats people with respect.

Worked on commercial projects of £4 - £8 Million through JCT; lump sum contracts with Dobbies Garden Centres, a regular client.Participated in the design and conceptual development of projects within the office, presenting schemes to the client for formal approval.Completed and coordinated the architectural drawing packages at planning, building warrant, tender and construction stages, working with consultants and delegating to in house technicians.Reviewed and commented upon sub-contractors drawings and coordinated with design team drawing packages.Participated with the contract administration, including site inspections, regular site meetings and technical meetings with the contractor and sub-contractors, issuing of certificates.Developed a number of feasibility studies for speculative housing developments in Edinburgh city centre.
